Our Programs
We design and support programs that help young people build confidence, connection, and a sense of what’s possible—both in and out of the classroom.
Equiduct Tutoring
Academic support that builds confidence through connection.
Tutoring at Equiduct is about more than academics—it’s about showing up for students in ways that build trust and lasting confidence. Whether after school or during the school day, our volunteers serve as role models, mentors, and advocates.

Since 2022, we’ve offered relationship-based tutoring at Eastside Community Action Center and the Lansing Student Development Program. In Fall 2023, we introduced Equiduct Accelerated In-School Instruction at Mt. Hope Elementary, where students receive daily, one-on-one support in math, reading, and writing.

With 3–4 MSU volunteers in the classroom each day, tutoring at Equiduct becomes something more: mentorship. It’s through those steady, trusting relationships that real learning happens and lasting confidence takes root.

Equiduct x Broad Financial
Field Day

Bringing financial literacy to life.
Each April, Equiduct partners with the Broad College of Business Student Senate and Junior Achievement to host Mt. Hope middle schoolers for a day of learning, laughter, and long-term thinking. Students explore goal-setting and decision-making through JA’s “Be a Success” financial literacy simulation, then team up for classic field day games like tug-of-war and sack races.

For many seventh graders, college can feel abstract. By bringing them onto campus—and into conversation with college students—this event helps students imagine what’s possible and see that learning, like life, can be both serious and fun.
Equiduct Coding
Build the games you play.
Learn the skills you’ll need.

Equiduct Coding introduces students to computer science by connecting a love of gaming to real-world skills, helping students see a future in what excites them.
In partnership with Imagine Software, Equiduct launched a hands-on coding course at Mt. Hope Elementary. Twice a week after school, MSU computer science volunteers guide students through the fundamentals of programming by modifying a 2D video game. The course focuses on physics-based concepts like gravity and projectile motion, blending math, logic, and creative problem-solving. By connecting creativity with problem-solving, we help students see themselves as builders, not just players.

Equiduct Science Night
Making STEM real and within reach.
Launching in Spring 2025, Equiduct Science Night will invite Mt. Hope students into an evening of hands-on STEM exploration—led by MSU’s top science clubs and organizations. From live experiments to animal encounters and telescope viewings, students will experience science as something they can touch, question, and get excited about.

Inspire to Achieve Mentorship
Helping programs reach the students who need them most.
In 2023, Equiduct recruited 13 MSU volunteers to serve as mentors for Eastside Community Action Center’s Inspire to Achieve Program. Each mentor was matched with a Lansing student for one-on-one and group activities focused on connection, consistency, and encouragement.

By supporting a trusted community program, we helped more students build meaningful relationships with mentors who showed up for them.
